NU's Foundation Year Program Receives Re-accreditation from BALEAP

NU's Center for Preparatory Studies has received Re-accreditation from the British Association of Lecturers in English for Academic Purposes (BALEAP).

Since 2019, NU has been an institutional member of BALEAP. In February 2020, the "English for Academic Purposes" course of NU's Foundation Year Program was first accredited by the association. It's noteworthy that NU is the first university in the CIS countries to receive this accreditation, confirming the high quality of the Center for Preparatory Studies' Foundation Year Program.

"Receiving Re-accreditation from BALEAP is a significant recognition of the quality of our Foundation Program at NU. This confirms that our standards are on par with some of the best universities globally, particularly in the UK. Our students can be confident that they are receiving top-quality education that prepares them well for their future academic and professional endeavors," noted Robert Doebler, General Director of the Center for Preparatory Studies at NU.

According to him, this achievement is especially meaningful for Kazakhstan, as it highlights the institution's dedication to providing exceptional education in the region. It opens up numerous opportunities for NU students, allowing them to compete and excel on an international level.

"We are very proud of this accomplishment and will continue to uphold these high standards to ensure our students get the best possible start to their academic journeys," added R. Dobler.

This prestigious accreditation is also held by renowned universities worldwide such as the University of Oxford, Heriot-Watt University, Durham University, University of Glasgow, University College London, among others.

Reference: BALEAP is an organization dedicated to the research and teaching of English for academic purposes. It was founded in 1972 as SELMOUS (Special English Language Materials for Overseas University Students) and has changed its name twice since then. Today, BALEAP is one of the leading international communities in the field of applied linguistics and English for academic purposes.
