Continuous professional development remains a top priority for the NU CPS faculty. Keeping with this commitment, the NU Foundation Year Program English for Academic Purposes Department organized a two-day intensive workshop on January 22-23, bringing instructors together for a series of hands-on sessions.
Led by guest experts from SDU - Dr. Umar Adam Ibrahim, Dr. Kymbat Smakova, and PhD student Chirailym Burgegulova, the event focused on three key areas: AI Tools in Education, Foundations of Formulaic Language, and Intercultural Communicative Competence. The sessions were not only theoretical - speakers and participants explored how these tools and concepts can be practically applied to support both teaching and student learning.
Over the two days, participants engaged in discussions and practical activities, shared their experiences, and explored modern teaching approaches, educational technologies, and contemporary practices in language education. Instructors highly appreciated the workshop, emphasizing its practical value, the quality of professional dialogue, and the relevance of the topics to their academic and teaching practices.
