Hello everyone! My name is Malika and I am a President of the FYP Student Council. For me being a member of the FYP Council is not a checkmark in ‘To-Do’ list nor a status to show off, it’s a responsibility that you place on your shoulders. Because there is a quintessential role assigned to the SC – being a bridge. We are bridging gaps between students and University administration; between NUFYP students and Undergraduate students; between their academic and social lives. The role of the Student Council is so crucial, yet underrated due to insufficient familiarity with students and a conservative approach to its activity. Well, you know how they say: “Freshman for refreshment”, so here I am - fresh and curious!
I believe that confidence, responsibility, ability to gather people and work with a team efficiently, conflict resolution, and positive attitude are one of the strongest soft skills which I possess. Even though I am a ‘straight A’ student, I always try to keep a balance between my academic and social lives. Hence, doing my best to make an outstanding performance in both. Strong empathy and altruistic nature brought me here, to be a part of the Student Council, to help students adjust in their University life and to gave them an unforgettable Freshman experience. My main point is, I want students to know what is happening in the world, and I want the world to know us.
