Paul was born on the Wirral close to Liverpool, which is where he went on to complete his BA in Philosophy and Politics, and also his MA in Applied Linguistics, both at the University of Liverpool. His experiences in teaching began in 2005 when he taught ESOL (English for Speakers of other Languages) to refugees and asylum seekers in Liverpool. Following this, Paul then relocated Vietnam, where he continued teach initially in language centres, but then over a number of years at EAP programs with international universities based in Vietnam. It was also in Vietnam where Paul trained as an IELTS examiner, as well as obtaining further qualifications with the completion of the Cambridge DELTA certification. During this period Paul also had opportunities to teach at a university program in Shanghai, as well as for an EAP program in Cambodia for individuals going to study a Masters or PhD in Australian or New Zealand based universities. Paul began his position as a Teaching Fellow at Nazarbayev University in the summer of 2017.
During his free time Paul enjoys boxing and learning Kazakh, he also has a keen interest in cinema and music as well.
