I am currently a NUZYP Academic Communications Teacher Fellow for AY 2020-2021.
I have been an instructor at various levels of higher education for almost thirty years. I earned a BA in English with a minor in Secondary Education from Framingham State University and an M.Ed. in English Education from Delta State University. Since moving overseas in 1996, I have taught in Cairo, Egypt (1996 – 2000), Istanbul, Turkey (2000 – 2003), Dubai, UAE (2003 – 2018), and Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan (2018 – present). At numerous conferences throughout the world, I have presented papers on various aspects of teaching English to non-native speakers. At NUZYP, I taught for one year in the NUFYP program before moving over to the NUZYP program. My current research interests include Travel Writing as a literary genre and Non-native Speakers’ development of oral fluency. Currently, I have traveled to 125 countries. I am originally from Boston, Massachusetts, but, thank goodness, I do not have the accent.
