John Seely is from Norwich, in the east of England. After gaining a degree in Physiology and Biochemistry from the university of Reading, he decided a change would be a good idea, started travelling and in doing so inadvertently began a career in teaching English. He has lived and taught in more than ten countries. He has spent most of his working life in education apart from a short break when he moved to Thailand and took up farming for a few years. He returned to teaching in 2003, transitioned to English for Academic Purposes in 2009 and completed his MA in Professional Development for Language Education in 2013. John came to Nazarbayev University in September 2017 as an EAP tutor in NUFYP and is now manager of the Academic Learning Center.
In his spare time, John enjoys long nature walks, cycling, reading and listening to music. Fortunately, these can be done anywhere in the world.
