I have been teaching English for more than 25 years, the last 10 of which have been in the field of academic English. My first degree was in English Language and Literature and I have an MA in Applied Linguistics. I also hold a number of teaching qualifications including the Cambridge DELTA.
I have worked in many different countries, including the UK, Portugal, Italy, Hungary, Egypt, Russia, Sri Lanka, the UAE and China. I arrived in Nur-Sultan (then Astana) in 2015 and began working in NUFYP. I have found NU to be a very satisfying place to work. The facilities here are excellent and the students are very rewarding to teach.
When not working, I enjoy reading and watching classic English films. I also like watching cricket and football and I follow my local team, Leyton Orient, in League 2 and try to watch them play whenever I am back in the UK. My husband also works in NUFYP and, whenever we can, we like to travel. We have visited several towns and cities in Kazakhstan including Almaty, Shymkent, Turkestan, Karaganda, Atyrau, Aktau and Borovoe, and have plans for many more.
