Deanne Cobb-Zygadlo has been working in the fields of language teaching, technology-enhanced language learning and faculty development for more than 20 years. Originally from Canada, she holds a CELTA and a Master of Arts in German from the University of Calgary. She has been teaching with the Center for Preparatory Studies at Nazarbayev University since August 2015 after serving 6 years as the Director of the Language Resource Center at Kutztown University (part of the Pennsylvania State System of Education). She currently acts as the Academic Writing Team Lead in the Zero Year Program (Pre-Masters) at NU. Her research interests include curriculum design, technology-enhanced learning, and student autonomy and engagement. She has also been fortunate over the years to partner with members of the Kazakh Language and Turkic Studies Department on several professional development initiatives for Kazakh language teachers.
In addition, Deanne is the proud mother of two boys and as a family, they consider Kazakhstan and Nur-Sultan to be home. Together they enjoy biking in the summer and snowball fights in the winter.
