I have been teaching English for over 25 years. In that time I have worked in England, Portugal, Hungary, Italy, Russia, Sri Lanka, Egypt, the UAE and China. This is my sixth year in Kazakhstan, the longest I have worked in any country! My first degree was in history and I have an MA in Applied Linguistics. I also have several teaching qualifications including the DELTA
I was born in East London and lived there until I became a travelling teacher. I am married and my wife (the lovely Helen) also teaches EAP at Nazarbayev University.
Before I was an English teacher I did a lot of different jobs. I have managed a bookshop, I worked in a government office, was a messenger in a meat market, worked for a newspaper, was music advisor to a film company and many other things as well.Teaching has been the most satisfying and it’s the job I have done for the longest time.
I love watching football, especially my favourite team Leyton Orient (the worst football team in London.) I also really enjoy cooking. My speciality is Indian food.
