I am from Ireland, and I also have Australian citizenship. I graduated in Psychology and then trained to be a teacher. As well as a Cambridge English Diploma in teaching, I have an MSc in Exercise & Sport Psychology and an MA in Applied Linguistics.
I’ve worked as a teacher or teacher trainer in many countries, including Turkey, Italy, Saudi Arabia, UK, Azerbaijan, Sri Lanka, Morocco, South Africa, Russia, Australia and Japan (I’ve been a teacher a long time!).
I especially enjoy teaching in university settings because my students are at a very important stage in their lives, and I feel it is a privilege to try to help them at the start of their academic lives.
I arrived in Nur-Sultan in January 2020, when the city was covered in snow. In March, when the snow melted, I had hoped to start exploring, but then we had to go into lockdown for another few months because of Covid-19!
I enjoy travelling and photography and hope to spend more time exploring Kazakhstan and Central Asia. I’m not much of a gym person, but try to stay active in Summer through cycling and rollerblading, and cross-country skiing in Winter.
