Anne Stander was introduced to teaching English for Academic Purposes during her assistantship at Purdue University, where she earned a Master’s degree in English with an ESL concentration in 1994; she later completed a Graduate Certificate in ESL with the School for International Training of Vermont. Over the years, she has taught in Moldova through a fellowship with the Soros Professional ELT Training Program, at El Tecnologico de Monterrey, Mexico City, Zayed University, Abu Dhabi, Michigan Technological University, and Sabanci University of Istanbul. Specific EAP areas for which Anne has developed curricula and taught include Business English, English for Engineering, English for Math and Science, and English for Social and Cultural Studies. In every work environment since university, she has created or served on a technology work group.
Anne’s hometown is Rudyard in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan, but she and her husband spend most holidays at their cottage in Bulgaria. She is fond of swimming and cross-country skiing. Her other hobbies include cooking, knitting, listening to European classical music and taking care of her dog, cats, and houseplants.
